BERGAMOT: Bergamot is the fruit of the tree produced by the cross-pollination of lime and bitter orange trees. It grows in particular in the Calabria region of southern Italy, where all the conditions are right to give the essence of this citrus fruit its rare quality. Its origin remains mysterious. Some believe it originated in the East and was introduced to Europe during the crusades in the Middle Ages. Others believe that it was Christopher Columbus who brought it from the Canary Islands.
